who we are
Our Story
detroit, michigan
February
Jason & Maggie Dunn get married!
Together with their two biological children,
they dove into serving children and
have added 6 children from foster care
to their family over the years.
After years of seeing the brokenness
of the foster care system and
the children it’s meant to serve,
their hearts were burdened to
make a bigger impact.
Institutional foster care
called to them as one of the
greatest areas of need in foster care.
Birth of HOP
With a vision to run a group home just like a family, House of Providence was officially formed.
In 2014, the first House
of Providence opened its doors
on the East Side of Detroit.
As more and more cases came
through House of Providence, our
drive to reach more children grew.
In 2018, a second home was
opened on sprawling rural
acres in Holly, MI.
In 2019, the Detroit campus
moved to a beautiful, brand new
home in Oxford, MI.
Over the years, we have seen a level
of success in bringing stability and healing
to these children that the status quo
in foster care would say is impossible!
December
In December of 2020, House of Providence became a nationally accredited program!
In June of 2022, Houston House
of Hope signed on to open a home
for boys under the HOP model.
In July of 2022, after 3.5 years and
hundreds of lives touched,
House of Providence sold the
Holly campus to shift the
organizational focus to expansion.
In 2023, Providence Academy
will welcome its first students!
We look with hopeful anticipation
into the future, and we are certain
that it includes more little ones finding
families and freedom from all that has
held them back!
Until every child has a home
We exist to instill hope in children who have only known the intense instability of foster care by emulating the unconditional love of a healthy family to them.
